Description:
Job Title: Studio Assistant
Reports to: Project Manager for assignments, concerns and questions.
Hours: P/T, 20-30 hours per week. Must have schedule flexibility and the ability to work some weekends.

The Studio Assistant assists the Project Manager and the Program Department with the successful execution and completion of the organization’s mural projects. The Studio Assistant supports the organization in the maintenance and upkeep of its facilities.

This is an entry level position intended for an individual seeking exposure to the inner workings of a community based arts organization from the ground up. Groundswell’s office/studio is in Gowanus, Brooklyn, convenient to the Union Street Subway station.

Specific Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of studio, kitchen and office spaces.
- Responsible for the organization of studio supply closet and restocking studio supplies
- Prepares studio space for all after school and in house special events
- Assists the Project Manager with the coordination and maintenance of supply inventory, supply purchases and supply delivery to project sites
- Assists Office Staff with various tasks such as filing program files/ office supply restock/ Data entry, etc.
- Performs program and project tasks including assisting lead artists on project sites, mural installation  and touching up project murals


Additional Qualifications
- Valid Drivers License required
- Ability to Carry 25+ pounds
- Experience with Scaffolding a plus
- Experience with Parachute Cloth installations a plus
- Painting Experience
- PC and Mac experience
- Experience as Artist Assistant a plus
- Comfortable working with and interacting with youth
- Art Handling Experience a plus
- Knowledge of Art Materials required
- Team Player
- Attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
- Highly organized
- Energetic
- BA/BFA Degree preferred or equivalent experience in Art History, Studio Art or related fields
