JOB TITLE: INTERN, WEB CONTENT
LOCATION: PORT WASHINGTON, NEW YORK

The Summer Intern within Corporate Marketing will have the opportunity to contribute on multiple projects for Web Content and Internal Communications. This opportunity will provide the intern with the opportunity to better understand the role of marketing & PR in a large organization.
This position is open to location in NPD’s Port Washington office.

Overall Responsibilities:• Assisting the Web Content Specialist and Director of Web Content in:
o Responding to internal requests to update various portions of NPD.com, NPD’s secure site, microsites, etc. using a content management system (CMS)
o Optimizing NPD.com content for search engines
o Optimizing content on social media sites such as YouTube, Twitter, etc.
o Promotional writing
o Video production

• Assisting the Internal Communications Manager in:
o Daily updates to the NPD intranet via the CMS
o Fact-gathering and reportage of internal news
o Intranet site redesign via the CMS
o Process inputs from our company efficiency program (“Simplify”)
o Assist in migration of data to Microsoft SharePoint

Qualifications:• College or Graduate Student. Juniors and Seniors strongly preferred.
• Education and/or experience in Marketing
• Familiarity with principles of web content management, preferably WordPress (IBM WebSphere a plus). HTML proficiency is an absolute must.
• Familiarity with general best practices for web content and web collaboration (SharePoint knowledge a plus)
• Familiarity with principles of search engine optimization
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Video production experience a plus
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
• Comfort working with upper management
• Expert in all MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Opportunity

We are looking to hire a young/dynamic/world class/hungry/high quality designer to create high quality web designs and user interfaces. The TinyPass user experience must be simple, elegant, and intuitive. World-class design will play a critical role in delivering the high-level of usability that we seek to deliver.

In addition to working on our interactive products, we are also seeking an overall generalist who can assist in the design and layout of business presentations/pitches and marketing collateral. ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP


The internship will provide you an exposure to all facets of website development, brand management, search engine optimization, and social media optimization. As a Web Development & Marketing Intern, you will get the opportunity to take one of M80's web properties and build it from the ground up. You will transform a simple URL into a sleek, well-designed website with a loyal following. You will get the opportunity to handle all aspects of management and design, as well as get a crash course on the complexities of online marketing.


Building a website is not as simple as it looks. As a Web Development & Marketing Intern, you will do the following:

• Market research and competitive analysis to identify optimum reach and effective online marketing potential of a given web property

• Quality content sourcing and scheduling to ensure consistent updating

• Coordination of promotion, link share, and alliances with other websites and media properties

• Brand management (though logo concepts, website design, content creation)

• Social Media Marketing (though Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr)

• Search Engine Optimization


All interns will work closely with the company's founder and management team, as well as other staff. Interns will work part-time for 16-25 hours per week throughout the Fall 2011 or Spring 2012 semester. There is also an opportunity to work full time (40 hours per week) during Summer 2012. Please note that although we would establish a set schedule throughout the semester, we understand that school comes first and will adjust hours to work around class schedules.


This opportunity will most likely be a great fit for self-motivated, high-achieving, and, most of all, creative college or graduate students.


This internship pays $10 per hour.
