Part-time Project/Communication assistant
More Art is a Manhattan based nonprofit arts organization dedicated to the production of socially engaged art projects. 
We
 are currently looking for a part-time project assistant to support the 
executive director and project manager in developing the organization's 
programming in general and an upcoming project by Andres Serrano in 
particular. 
This position is communication driven. More Art is 
looking to expand its visibility in both the art world and among the 
general public and the project assistant will hold a pivotal role in 
this effort. Working closely with More Art's staff and board, the 
assistant will lead the creation of a press and marketing strategy for 
the organization. Tasks will include drafting and strategically 
circulating press releases, pitching stories to magazines, newspapers, 
and TV and radio stations, as well as keep up with the organization's 
general correspondence. The candidate will also conduct research on 
media outlets, maintain the press database; archive media coverage; 
assist with visual documentation, edit images, manage the website, write
 blog posts, lead our social media presence, as well as assist with the 
organization of public events. 
Additionally, the candidate will 
be expected to assist with production and a number of administrative 
tasks, if needed. Self-sufficiency, accountability, versatility and 
willingness to learn are an absolute must. More Art is a small 
organization and staff members have to be involved in all aspects of our
 activity. 
Required skills:
Writing: great writing skills are a must (specifically press releases, blog posts)
Design:  proficiency in Photoshop, InDesing and Illustrator
Computer: website management and basic HTML
Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
Personal
 skills: Candidate must be communication oriented, have an interest in 
public relations and be familiar with the New York art world. 
Preferred Background: 
No
 minimum experience is required although a background in arts 
administration, art communication or cultural production would be 
preferable.

Interviews
 will take place in November and December. The selected candidate will 
be expected to work a minimum of 2.5 days a week starting on January 6, 
2014.
