The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Provides customer services on the selling floors that exceeds the customer’s expectations and assist the Manager in achieving sales goals.  Participates in zone coverage of the selling floor.  Contributes to shop and stock maintenance. This position reports to Store Manager and other supervisory staff at the direction of the Manager. This is a part-time position with a variety of shifts available.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:•Greets or acknowledges all customers entering the shop, approaching sales location, or on the phone. Learns customer’s shopping purpose
•Engages customer in sales oriented conversations, sells to customer, up-sells to customer.  Closes sales by using knowledge of product and procedures helpful to customer
•Processes payment at register using current selling script; follows current cash, check, and credit procedures
•Provides coverage of selling floor when not on register; answers customer questions, escorts customers to merchandise, performs shop maintenance in area adjacent to selling counter, participates in loss prevention efforts
•Observes schedule, maintains good attendance and punctuality
•Assist with maintenance of shop and stock by cleaning, straightening, requisitioning merchandise, ticketing, restocking, as needed
•Participates in annual inventory process
•Other related duties

This part-time position is responsible for reviewing written fundraising materials and grant proposals for The Field’s Sponsored Artist Program. The Associate, although self-directed, works closely with the Artist Services Manager, coordinating grant submission deadlines with artists and developing clear feedback communication strategies to enhance Sponsored Artists’ ability to produce clearly articulated, professional proposal and fund materials. The Associate may also be tasked with preparing fundraising materials for artists and advising artists on fundraising strategies and grant calendars.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for reviewing grants proposals to foundation and corporate sources, and preparing feedback for artists.
  • Reviewing grant reports and ensuring that all sponsored artists comply with grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.
  • Reviewing written fundraising materials and providing effective feedback to artists.
  • Assisting with other materials review as requested.
  • Performing artist consultations as needed.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Strong written communication skills; ability to provide feedback in a clear, structured way.
  • Strong editing skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
  • Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience with grant writing and previous experience with non-profit fundraising in the performing arts sector. The candidate must have experience working in deadline-driven, team environment and handling multiple assignments. The ability to devote 6 to 10 hours a week to reviewing materials, a weekly in-office meeting and occasional phone conversations with the Artist Services Manager is also required. Working artists in the performing arts are encouraged to apply.

The fundamental role of the Student Services Associate involves becoming fluent in company offerings and policies in order to assist current and prospective students. Additional responsibilities include the following:
  • Interacting directly with prospective and current clients regarding Manhattan GMAT programs, such as: classes, tutoring, workshops and events.
  • Advising clients as to their best course of action and how to maximize their Manhattan GMAT experience.
