As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for delivering the A|X shopping experience to each client.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greet customers with a friendly, engaging attitude
Assess client needs by listening to their cues and recommending product that fits their style
Sell productively while displaying confidence and enthusiasm
Educate clients on product knowledge (fit, styling, trends and fabrication)
Work collectively as a team to create a shopping experience that exceeds the client's expectation
Maintain a clean and organized sales floor through hanging and folding merchandise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent verbal communication skills
Demonstrate a passion for customer service
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Ability to assist the Management team in stock related and housekeeping tasks
One year experience in a fashion retail or customer service related environment. (Wardrobe and clientele experience is a plus)
Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business.
Minimum education level: High School Diploma or GED

We are seeking a dynamic, customer service driven Part Time Sales Associate who is a hands on seller. If you are up for the challenge of a fast paced, high energy environment we'd love to hear from you.

The sales associate is responsible for generating sales and building customer relationships in our retail stores. Associates who demonstrate high degrees of proficiency to interact with the customers and identify their needs will maximize their sales opportunities. The associate will be responsible for continuing the client contact beyond the initial sale. By capturing name, address, phone and email contact information, the associate will use multiple means to communicate and build relationships with the customers. The associate will also be responsible for maintaining the visual and housekeeping standards of the store. This will include the receiving of merchandise and presentation to the selling floor, processing of markdowns and removal from the floor for transfers.

Responsibilities:
  • Achieve and exceed the personal sales and productivity goals agreed upon with your store manager
  • Demonstrate a complete knowledge of the merchandises’ features and benefits to maximize the sales opportunity
  • Be a quick thinker who listens to the customer and can identify his/her needs and overcome objections if raised
  • Responsible to do client development beyond the initial transaction; utilizing phone, email and written follow-up contact
  • Maintain the housekeeping and visual standards of the store
  • Have computer skills to operate the POS register and email systems
  • Safeguard the store’s inventory by adherence to the company’s loss prevention program
  • Follow all store operational policies and procedures
  • Client Book Management and Clienteling

  • Qualifications:
    • Prior experience in retail sales is preferred
    • A sales driven, goal oriented individual who needs to win
    • Have a positive, high energy, friendly, outgoing and engaging personality. Must be willing to take the first step to initiate contact with the customers and identify their shopping needs.
    • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills allowing for effective communication with your customers
    • Possess computer skills to operate our retail POS system, Word, Excel and email
    • Must be able to lift, carry or otherwise move objects weighing up to 15 pounds when merchandising the sales floor and use ladders or stairs

    Supervisor: Associate Retail Operations Manager
    Schedule: Part time, 21-24 hours/week

    Description:The New Museum’s retail program is renowned in the contemporary art field and has among the highest sales per sq. of any museum retailer. The program has undergone dramatic expansion due to opening of the New Museum’s highly anticipated new building in late 2007 as well as the recent launch of several entrepreneurial retail initiatives. The Retail Associate - Sales reports to the Associate Retail Operations Manager. Work hours include weekends, evenings and encompass staffing pop-up stores, offsite events and projects.

    Responsibilities:• Meets and exceeds daily sales goals.
    • Follow through with customer sales and inquiries.
    • Opening and closing of cash registers.
    • Taking and completing mail and special orders by phone, email and fax.
    • Receiving of merchandise and restocking of sold products.
    • Participating in annual inventory count.
    • Assist at store and off-site events.
    • Light housekeeping of store.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:Candidates should have superb customer-focused sales skills, familiarity with computerized POS and inventory systems, excellent customer service skills and solid communication skills. The ability to follow through and complete assigned tasks is important for this position. Occasionally candidates must be able to lift 30 pound boxes. Knowledge of contemporary art is required. Retail experience in a book store or museum store is preferred.

    Wage: $12.50/hour
