Receptionist
Ramapo for Children, located in midtown Manhattan, is an innovative youth-service agency serving high-risk children and those with special needs. We are seeking a receptionist to assist with the clerical functions of the NYC office. This position is ideal for an enthusiastic professional who takes initiative and works well in a collaborative environment.

About the position:
The Receptionist is essential to smooth functioning of day-to-day operations. In addition to the many responsibilities listed below, the Receptionist is the first person that visitors encounter upon entering Ramapo's office. Our receptionist has a profound impact on the perception outsiders have of our organization. This is a part-time temporary position until the end of June. The hours are 12:00PM-4:00PM Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain front reception area and welcome guests
  • Ability to answer phones in a professional and courteous manner and transfer call to appropriate employees
  • Take detailed and accurate messages and forward to appropriate person as necessary
  • Sort and distribute mail and faxes
  • Accepting and signing for deliveries
  • Maintain kitchen and pantry area
  • Assist with mailings and other projects as needed
  • Filing, photocopying and faxing as needed
  • Administrative assignments as needed
Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of office support experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone etiquette with patience and compassion when communicating with callers
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) required
  • Must be a customer service focused professional who is pro-active, self-motivated and organized with a positive and friendly attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail

This position is responsible for acting as a host for the Patrons Lounge and performing administratve duties for the Membership Department. Responsibiltites include, but are not limited to, having full knowledge of daily Museum activities, answering Member and Visitor questions, responding to inquiries from Retail regarding Membership status of shoppers, and keeping the Lounge clean and organizied. A Member’s overall experience at the Patrons Lounge will depend greatly on the interaction with this staff person. The Membership Department relies on this staff member to enter Member address changes into PledgeMaker and assist with data entry as well as with Membership card fulfillment and invitation mailings. This is a part-time position.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Greet Members and Visitors
  • Keep FYI and Reservation Book up to date
  • Answer phones
  • Maintain the appearance of the Patrons Lounge
  • Assist Members, guests, and waiters during events in the Membership Private Dining Rooms
  • Enter Membership demographic information into computer system to maintain updated Membership records
  • Support department staff when needed
  • Other related duties
Requirements and Qualifications:
Experience and Skills:

  • Must be friendly, helpful, and discreet
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer literate
Knowledge and Education:
  • Knowledge of the Museum in general
  • Good working knowledge of database and word processing software

The Center for Khmer Studies seeks a part-time administrative assistant to assist with general office tasks. Responsibilities include opening and sorting the mail, depositing checks, paying bills, answering phones, and checking emails regularly (and taking action accordingly). The assistant will also help with fundraising mailings as needed and will take minutes at three annual Board meetings.  The job is very part-time, but the time commitment is more significant in the fall when fundraising letters are mailed.

The Center for Khmer Studies’ (CKS) mission is to support research, teaching and public service in the social sciences, arts and humanities as they relate to Cambodia. We aim to connect Cambodian scholars, students and artists with their international colleagues for the purpose of fostering understanding of Cambodia and Southeast Asia.
