The Jacob Burns Film Center, located in Pleasantville NY, is a nonprofit cultural and educational institution dedicated to presenting the best of independent, documentary and world cinema, promoting visual literacy and making film a vibrant part of the community.

We seek a part time Equipment Staffer to work under the supervision of our Equipment Manager and Film Center Technical Director in support of the activities of the organization and its educational programs. An ideal candidate would have a solid grounding in digital media equipment and a strong desire to expand that knowledge and grow their skills in a collaborative environment.

The Film Center and Media Arts Lab utilize a wide range of digital production equipment such as video and still cameras, microphones, portable audio recording devices, Macintosh and Windows computers, lighting equipment and various other production equipment.

Over 85,000 students in grades 3-12 and college have participated in our education programs, more than 50% of them from underserved communities throughout the tri-state area. Their participation, including transportation, is funded entirely by the JBFC, thanks in part to support from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Programs range from film, animation and new media production to experiments in emergent technologies – each course helping students master the tools of 21st century communication while fostering intellectual curiosity and creative exploration.

The JBFC Theater houses three screens and is open to the public 365 days a year. Exhibitions include first-run independent features, previews, classic films, and documentaries from around the world. Each month, we present two to four curated series including annual and monthly programs, as well as special one-time events and retrospectives on important film artists. More than 150 directors, actors, authors, scholars, and other remarkable guests come to speak with our audience each year.

The successful candidate must have:

• the capacity to understand and absorb a wide variety of technologies quickly
• outstanding attention to detail
• strong knowledge of Macintosh and Windows operating systems and programs
• a desire to work with students and media,
• the ability to work both collaboratively and independently

Primary responsibilities include:

• Student check in and out of equipment
• Setting up classrooms for faculty
• Setting up and running digital films for screenings
• Video projection in classrooms
• Equipment inventory and maintenance
• Real time troubleshooting of computer and equipment (cameras, etc) issues
• Other appropriate tasks assigned by the Equipment Manager
• Care and maintenance of equipment room and projection booth

Start Date: ASAP

This is a part time position, 3-4 days (18-25 hours) per week.  Shifts include morning, night and weekend hours. Flexibility is a must!

Part-time Hourly Salary: $15

SUMMARY:
 
The Retail Media Merchandiser is responsible for maintaining account aesthetics and in store project execution.

SUPERVISION:
This position is under the supervision of the District Sales Manager and is given direction from the Retail Media Specialist.

Job responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:
 
  • Ensures proper inventory management through use of the Sales and Inventory Report and SMART device.

  • Ensures proper category balancing in all stores through use of the Sales and Inventory report.

  • Provides store General Managers with the following: competitive shopping information, monthly sales information and monthly promotional letter.

  • Establishes and maintain a positive working relationship with all Anderson Merchandisers associates, store employees, and outside contacts.

  • Responds immediately to all account concerns, applying the Sundown Rule

  • Responsible for all territory in-store commitments.  

  • Ensures reporting integrity through accurate and timely TSP/Survey responses.

  • Ability to communicate essential components of training materials directly to store employees.

  • Maintain account aesthetics.

  • Completes all project, product placement and execution expectations through advanced planning and communication with store management.

  • Respond immediately to all store concerns.

  • Assist with Territory projects.

Requirements and Qualifications, including but not limited to the following:
 
  • Lifting objects and product up to a maximum of 50 lbs. with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects/product up to 35 lbs, in addition to, the ability to lift heavy objects up to 100 lbs with assistance from another associate.

  • Work performed could be while sitting, standing, or walking.

  • Work performed will entail fine manipulation of hands or fingers, as well as repetitive hand action.

  • Work performed will entail bending, twisting, squatting, and climbing as well as upper and lower body mobility.

  • Demonstrates technical efficiency on computer and SMART device.

  • High School Diploma or equivalency exam required.

  • Valid driver's license is required as travel to additional locations may be necessary.

  • Automobile liability insurance is required to be maintained.

  • Required to work a flexible schedule, including nights/weekends (including Sunday), holidays, occasional overnights and possible overtime.

  • Must have high speed internet access and printing capabilities and be willing to dedicate time for minor office activities.
