The Assistant Manager is the right-hand to the Store Manager. When the manager is not working, this person is responsible for the performance and operation of the store; they lead the team, and communicate with the office and share information with staff when relevant. Inventory is a key focus of the assistant manager: they police inventory accuracy in the system, supervise cycle counts, and ensure that the stock areas are labelled and organized.

Chelsea Store Average Store Operating Hours:
Chelsea: 8:30am - 8:30pm

Requirements:
- Be 21 years of age.
- Have High School Diploma/GED
- Be hard-working, adaptable and energetic -- you will be on your feet.
- Be a highly organized individual capable of multi-tasking -- while maintaining that high energy!
- Be extremely hygenic and presentable - you will be working with food.
- Have a VERY happy, personable, professional demeanor and upbeat personality!
- Must love to smile and be outgoing!
- Love talking to customers, and engaging them in selecting gorgeous products to purchase.
- Have a working knowledge of up-selling and cross-selling.
- Possess meticulous attention to detail.
- Be trustworthy and adaptable to rapid change.
- Truly enjoy team work and have a "can do" attitude.
- Provide a minimum of a one year commitment to our company.

Preferred Experience:
- Prior food/hospitality/customer service experience, ideally in a retail setting.
- Key Holding/Leadership experience.
- College education.
- Experience using a Point-of-Sale terminal, a huge plus!
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, a huge plus!
- Culinary skills or knowledge of a second language, a gigantic plus!
- Open availability and a desire to grow with our company.
- Have taken and passed Food Protection Certification course for NYC, a gigantic plus!
Note: All new hires are required to complete this certification within 2 weeks of hire!!

Responsibilities:

• Meet customer service standards by greeting the customer, determining their needs and assisting in locating and/or acquiring their needs when possible
• Assist with meeting and exceeding daily sales goals
• Efficient in using point of sale software and handling cash
• Assist in compliance of merchandise presentation standards
• Assist in stocking floor and stockroom maintenance
• Assist customers with special orders
• Assist students with textbook sales
  

Qualifications:

• Retail store and POS experience, preferably in a college bookstore or specialty store with a variety of merchandise types
• Strong verbal, written and electronic communication skills
• Reliable, professional and highly motivated individual willing to play a role within a team focused environment
• Ability to identify new products and overall awareness of trends in the market place
• General interest in the performing arts and/or classical music
• Ability to read music a plus
